From Observation To Response
Shadow mode. Controller-safe integration. Fail-safe fallback. Engineering evidence.
This dossier describes a practical framework for deploying infrastructure intelligence safely within existing transport operations — how Xvision validates behaviour, partitions responsibility and integrates alongside approved signal control systems.
The four pillars
01 — Shadow mode
Validate behaviour and safety before activation. Xvision runs in parallel with existing control logic, logging recommendations and outcomes without sending commands to live infrastructure. Operators see what the system would do, and engineers measure whether that matches expectations.
02 — Controller-safe integration
Work alongside approved traffic signal controllers. Xvision does not replace certified signal hardware. Integration respects controller protocols, timing constraints and operational boundaries defined by the asset owner.
03 — Fail-safe fallback
Return to existing infrastructure logic if required. If connectivity is lost, validation fails, or policy limits are exceeded, the network reverts to pre-existing behaviour. Intelligence augments operations; it does not create a single point of failure.
04 — Engineering evidence
Generate the data needed for review, approval and deployment. Every shadow-mode session produces auditable records — timestamps, inputs, recommended actions and outcomes — suitable for engineering review and governance sign-off.
Responsibility partitioning
| Layer | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Perception | Xvision edge nodes — detection, classification, context |
| Decision support | Xvision platform — recommendations within policy |
| Control authority | Approved signal controllers — live actuation |
| Governance | Asset owner — approval, activation, audit |
Clear boundaries ensure that no capability crosses from observation to response without explicit approval.
Deployment workflow
Deploy → Connect → Observe (shadow) → Review → Approve → Activate (bounded)
Each stage produces evidence for the next. Skipping observation or review is not supported — the architecture assumes that infrastructure intelligence earns its place in live operations through demonstrated performance.
